HISTORICAL-CULTURAL Datalink Entry:
TERMINUS/SUMMARY/A (Erebus Node)
Terminus was sighted in 2012 by Jules
Sorel during the Third Transantarctic
Safari. He kept detailed notes and some
old-fashioned still holo records now so
fragmented that most resolution has been
lost.
In the dim computer-generated holo
images, Terminus looked like an ordinary
glacially carved dry valley free of ice
and snow. In the center of the lowest
point was what appeared to be a lake.
Mean temperature, according to Sorel, is
15 degrees Celsius, (60 degrees
Fahrenheit); heat source unknown but
presumed to be geothermal. Terminus has
never been detected from satellite or
airship overflights, and its precise
location is unknown. Reasons are
unclear, but History AI speculates
Terminus is shaded by ice overhang or
significant rock outcroppings. Sorel
claims he saw or planted (the meaning is
unclear) modified beech and conifers,
ferns, even grasses. This claim cannot
be substantiated.
